Blue Bottle on Windowsill

Nancy Rommes

"It has been my observation as a photographer (and I think it's a rather profound one) that even the most simple of scenes often allude to life's wonderful complexity. Here, in this farmhouse bedroom, the unpretentious lace curtains, blue-green glass of the re-used bottle, and the pure white of the windowsill are evidence of a material existence reduced to the essentials. Yet the drops of wax – presumably from a candle held by the bottle's mouth – suggest the passage of time for those who dwelt here. For me, they also evoke visions of long winter nights, hours reading by candlelight, and – perhaps – romance." - Nancy Rommes
