Sandy Bonney's 8 x 10 inch pastel on paper of "ELLA" won a First Place in Professional Artist Division and the coveted People's Choice Award at the Azalea Festival Art Show in Brookings over the Memorial Day weekend. So many people were asking why this "photo" wasn't hanging with the other photos that a sign had to be put under the pastel that stated "This is not a photograph."
The pastel portrait of "Percival" has been selected as a finalist in the Richeson75 Online Animals, Birds & Wildlife Competition. The notification stated, "There were several hundred entries for this contest!
SIGNATURES GALLERY has joined BRIAN SCOTT GALLERY in a collaborative effort to keep art alive and well in Brookings, Oregon. Our new home is at 515 Chetco Avenue (Highway 101) just across the street and down two blocks from our old location. Our new home is a three story building, with the main floor as the gallery.
Sandy Bonney's pastel portrait of Albert Handell (one of the world's top pastel artists) won first place at the Pasadena Materials and Supplies Expo: Art! show in October. The portrait was also juried into the Pastel 100 Competition sponsored by the Pastel Journal Magazine. Over 4,500 entries were received from all over the world. Only 100 are selected, twenty from each of five categories.
The Winter 2010 issue of Watercolor Magazine's feature story is "Modern Masters: Jan Kunz" by Lynne Bahr. She writes,"This artist believes that passion, training, and hard work go a long way toward successful watercolor paintings." We agree, 100 percent!

Last June Sandy Bonney was contacted by the editors of "Best of America - Pastel Artists" to be one of the featured artists in their latest book. They chose three images. The first is "Waterbaby II" of a toddler playing in the Chetco River. The second chosen is "Logan" the German Shorthair Pointer owned by Har-Brook Jewelers in Brookings OR.
The whimsical pottery creations of Brookings resident Christina Olsen are now exclusively at Signatures Gallery.
Christina's original one-of-a-kind pottery pieces are individually hand-painted using bright primary colors, fired onto hand-made pottery. The subject matter may be similar, but no two are ever identical.
Signatures Gallery was featured in the Fall 2008 Edition of the Ashland Magazine. The history of the gallery, the featured artists and two examples of the artwork available are on the two page spread.
Joseph Tonini's latest book, "Alphabet, Art & History" is almost completed. When published, Signatures Gallery will be hosting a book signing for this very unique look at the alphabet.
